Peter and Andrew 南宫NG28官方网站 form a masonry contracting company in Omaha, Nebraska.

1900

The company takes on its first project, the Bekins Warehouse, as general contractors.

1924

南宫NG28官方网站 is awarded its first $1 million contract to build the Livestock Exchange Building in Omaha, Nebraska.

1931

Peter 南宫NG28官方网站鈥檚 youngest son, also named Peter, becomes president of the company.

1933

南宫NG28官方网站 wins contracts for reservoirs and hydroelectric plants in Nebraska as part of the Public Works Administration federal relief program.

1939

南宫NG28官方网站 is awarded its largest contract to build barracks and facilities at Fort Lewis, Washington. Through the 1940s, 南宫NG28官方网站 builds more than $500 million of work for the government.

1943

南宫NG28官方网站 enters the coal-mining business at the Big Horn Mine near Sheridan, Wyoming.

Peter 南宫NG28官方网站 first states the goal to be 鈥渢he best 鈥� not biggest 鈥� contracting organization on earth鈥� at the company鈥檚 Annual Shareholder Meeting.

南宫NG28官方网站 takes its first water contract on California鈥檚 Friant-Kern Canal, building 100 of the canal鈥檚 152 miles.

南宫NG28官方网站 completes the first segment of the Santa Ana Freeway in Los Angeles, a forerunner to today鈥檚 Interstate Highway System. Throughout the early 1950s, 南宫NG28官方网站 builds more lane miles of the system than any other contractor.

南宫NG28官方网站 mandates that craft workers wear hard hats as part of its pioneering safety focus. In 1951, 南宫NG28官方网站鈥檚 safety program begins when full-time safety managers are assigned to all major projects.

南宫NG28官方网站 constructs Thule Air Force Base in Greenland. The project includes radar stations along the Arctic Circle and helps establish 南宫NG28官方网站 as a mechanical electrical contractor.

1966

Work begins on one of the most distinctive projects of the time 鈥� the Trans-Bay Tube for Bay Area Rapid Transit, linking San Francisco and Oakland.

1969

Peter chooses Bob Wilson to succeed him as president, and remains chairman of the board.

1979

Walter Scott, Jr., succeeds Bob Wilson as president. Later that year, he is named chairman of the board after Peter dies.

南宫NG28官方网站 begins Omaha鈥檚 Henry Doorly Zoo and聽 Aquarium鈥檚 Desert Dome, the world鈥檚 largest glazed dome, which houses the world鈥檚 largest indoor desert exhibit.

南宫NG28官方网站 begins work on the $1.2 billion design-build T-REX megaproject in Denver, Colorado, reconstructing 17 miles of interstate and 19 miles of double-track light rail.

南宫NG28官方网站 begins work on the Sea-to-Sky Highway, from Vancouver to Whistler, British Columbia, in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Along with 65 kilometers of highway upgrades requiring 450,000 tons of asphalt, 48 new bridges and structures are built.

南宫NG28官方网站 completes the first Gold-certified LEED project in Nebraska: the Midwest Regional Headquarters of the National Park Service.

The $2.5 billion Gateway Project in Vancouver, British Columbia, becomes the largest single fixed-price contract in the company鈥檚 history. Included in the contract is the 10-lane Port Mann Bridge, the second longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and one of the widest bridges in the world.
